WRCA Partial Building Closure
- On Sept. 4, a City of Calgary building inspection found some parts of the Willow Ridge Community Association did not meet the building code and needed to be closed immediately for safety reasons.
- The Willow Ridge Community Association immediately complied with the inspection report and closed the following parts of the building: the main entrance, office, main lobby, kitchen area, front hallway, washrooms, and Maple Hall.
- The inspection confirmed that the lower level of the building does meet the building code and is safe. The lower level includes: the stairwell, elevator, Rink Room, Preschool Area, church office, mechanical room, and daycare.
- The Willow Ridge Community Association is exploring remediation solutions for the sections that are currently closed and working with all rental groups affected by the closure to find other rental options as quickly as possible.
- While the building was renovated in 2019, the areas that have been closed were not part of the renovation scope.
