COVID Vaccine Record Verification
Please be reminded that the Government of Alberta (GOA) has announced that the QR code generated at Covid Records Homepage will be the only valid proof of vaccination on and after November 15, 2021. All eligible businesses participating in the Restriction Exemption Program (REP) (Appendix A CMOH Order 45-2021) must download the AB COVID Records Verifier app via the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. ** Please ensure the most up-to-date version of the app is downloaded. The use of previous versions can lead to vaccine records being incorrectly identified as invalid.
Some important things to keep in mind regarding the QR codes:
- On and after November 15th this will be the only valid proof of vaccination in Alberta. Paper copies of vaccine records can no longer be accepted.
- For operators that have screened patrons prior to Nov 15th and maintained records for repeat customers, those customers must be rescreened using the QR code app to verify two doses have been received.
- You will be required to have a device to scan the codes. The app is free and is found on the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store
- Once the app is downloaded it does not require data or an internet connection.
- If you do not have a device, funding to support REP related expenses will soon be available to participating businesses to use as they wish. Information can be found here: More support for businesses
- Businesses experiencing issues with the app can contact support line at: 1 888 527 1224 or email covid19record@gov.ab.ca
- Patrons who do not have a QR code can quickly get their records online here: Alberta Covid Records or can receive a printed copy free of charge from any Alberta Registries office.
- It is mandatory to verify the QR code against a valid piece of government ID for those 18 and over. Patrons 12 -17 only need to provide the QR code.
- The Alberta Covid App cannot read QR codes from other provinces. Examples of acceptable proof of vaccination from other provinces, military, first nations, can be found here: Samples
Recently, the Government of Alberta updated its REP Guidance document to provide further clarity about the program. We recommend reviewing the posted guidance regularly to understand changes that may impact your business.
