Civic Affairs Open House
Hello WillowRidge residents,
On behalf of the WillowRidge Community Association, we will be holding an Open House on Tuesday, June 14th at 7:00 PM to provide information and solicit feedback on the following items.
First, Rogers has proposed a new cell phone tower near the intersection of Fairmount Drive and 99th Avenue (near APlus1 Store). The Civic affairs group has some concerns over the chosen location, basis for a new tower and the communication/engagement associated with this application.
Second, the first application in our communities for RC2 has been proposed for a location in Willow Park. Maple Ridge and Willow Park are comprised entirely of RC1 houses – One dwelling per lot and this application is for two dwellings on this lot. The location is 216 99th Avenue. Our Civic Affairs group wishes to engage the community regarding this application and provide a means for feedback. At the time of this note, we have not seen the plans and other than the request for RC2, we do not know what the owner intends to build. We will attempt to have the owner and/or builder present to answer questions.
Lastly, we can provide an update on the Local Heritage Area Plan for Maple Ridge and Willow Park. We are part of a group of communities called Heritage Communities, and you can stop by to see what this means, how development in the future might look. The City of Calgary is looking for community feedback on a draft plan to densify the Willow Park and Maple Ridge communities. We hope to have representatives from the City of Calgary on site for the meeting.
