WRCA Mahjong Club

BEGINNER CLASS:

New to mahjong? This beginner-friendly class is your perfect starting point. Instructors from the Mahj Social Club of Calgary will walk you through the basics—from tile types to gameplay flow—so you can confidently play your first hand. No experience needed, just bring your curiosity (and maybe a friend or two). We will teaching American Mahjong, using the NMJL 2026 game cards.

Registration includes a 2hr lesson, plus 1 additional hour of play with guidance from instructors. All game equipment is provided, and if you love the first lesson, you can register for the WRCA Mahjong Club 12-week Fall session which runs every Wed. from Sept 23 - Dec 9, 2026.

WEEKLY SESSIONS:

You've taken the beginner lesson, now you're ready to start playing American Mahjong! We will run 3 sessions (Fall, Winter, Spring) that are 12 weeks long each. You will need to register for each session separately. If you are unable to attend a class, please let the group organizer know ahead of time so we can fill your spot with an alternate. It is important to have 4 players at each table!

Players must have the 2026 NMHL cards. They will be available for purchase at WRCA for $15ea or you can order them online at https://www.nationalmahjonggleague.org/store.aspx#. We recommend the $15 card, as the font is larger and easier to read.
