Cost to play:
WRCA Members: $30/person per event
Non-members: $55/person per event (Membership purchase likely will be as cheap or cheaper and is encouraged)
For WRCA Members, there is an annual Court Access Fee if you want unlimited court access during the rest of the year. That fee is $15 for singles or $20 for couples/family and can be purchased online at wrca.getcommunal.com
WRCA Members cannot register guests. Guests will need to create a Communal Account and complete the registration themselves.
Tournament Info:
There will be three skill groups. Each Group will consist of 2 person teams and will have an A and a B side if numbers permit. There will be a round robin in smaller groups. 5 games guaranteed.
Novice (under 3.25) - 8 Teams. Can perform and return dinks, lobs, slow, medium, and fast volleys, but inconsistent accuracy. Knows the basic rules.
Intermediate (3.25+) - 16 Teams. Can perform dinks, lobs, and most volleys with more consistency. Can slow the pace, and place shots. perform serves and returns with few errors and can perform 3rd shot drop and drive consistently. Knows the rules well.
Advanced (3.75+) - 8 Teams. You’ve learned the doubles strategy and can play better as a team with proper footwork, communication, and strategies. You can play backhand shots consistently, with perfect placement and control. Your double strategies include poaching and stacking. You can play drives, drops, volleys, spin shots, and dinks, both backhand, and forehand, without making faults. Able to block shots and are good at lob shots. Can change directions and excellent at footwork. Can better synchronize with your partner about when to move upward, forward, side-by-side, and so forth.
Ratings Groups may be adjusted based on numbers
There are three player events in each ratings group; Men's, Ladies, & Mixed. Registered single players may indicate they are looking for a partner. There are no single events. If a player's partner hasn't registered within 3 days, the player may be moved to the waitlist to allow room to fill the bracket. Alternate rainout dates are Sat. May 4th (9-5pm) & Sun. May 5th (12-8pm).
